The SSI Advanced Adventurer course is your chance to take your diving to the next level. Whether you’re a newly certified diver looking to gain more experience or a returning diver wanting to push your skills, this course gives you the chance to try a range of specialty dives while under the guidance of a professional instructor.
There’s no exam and no classroom learning — just focused, hands-on training across five open water dives. You’ll get to sample different types of diving, build confidence in new environments, and discover what kind of diving excites you most.
After completing the program, you’ll be certified to dive to a maximum depth of 30 metres.
What You’ll Do
Choose five adventure dives from the following options (your instructor can help guide you):
- Deep Diving – Extend your depth limit to 30m
- Navigation – Learn compass and natural navigation skills
- Nitrox – Dive with enriched air to extend your bottom time
- Perfect Buoyancy – Fine-tune your buoyancy control
- Wreck Diving – Explore sunken structures like HMSNZ Canterbury
- Night & Limited Visibility – Discover the underwater world after dark
- Search & Recovery – Learn safe lifting and retrieval techniques
- Drift Diving – Experience the thrill of underwater currents
- Boat Diving – Learn the techniques and protocols for diving from a boat
Most courses include Deep, Navigation, Wreck, Nitrox and Perfect Buoyancy — but your dives can be tailored to your interests and location.
