The SSI Try Scuba program is the perfect way to experience the world of scuba without committing to a full certification. It’s easy, exciting, and designed for absolute beginners. You’ll learn the basics, get comfortable with the gear, and take your first breaths underwater in a private heated indoor pool.
Even better — you get free access to online learning via the MySSI app to help you prepare for the experience at your own pace.
What to Expect
Try Scuba is made up of two parts:
- Online theory through the MySSI app or website
- In-water training session in a heated indoor pool
You’ll be introduced to essential scuba concepts, get hands-on with real dive gear, and learn key skills in a safe, controlled environment.
Gear You’ll Use
You’ll train using a complete scuba setup including:
- Regulator
- Buoyancy Control Device (BCD)
- Weight system and tank
- Mask, snorkel, and fins
All gear is provided. Just bring your togs and a towel. The pool is heated, but you’re welcome to bring your own shorty or steamer if you prefer.

- Download the content to your device so you can learn anytime, even offline
- Come into Oceans Alive to register and book your pool session

- Minimum age: 8
- Be healthy and comfortable in the water
- No previous diving experience required
